Stewardship Workdays for Invasive Plant Removal

Woldumar Nature Association is continuing to host a Stewardship Program for the removal of invasive plants. The workdays focus on the identification and removal of invasive plants from ecologically sensitive areas of Woldumar. This includes the removal of Oriental Bittersweet, Honeysuckle bushes and other invasive plants.
You do not have to have any prior experience to participate, as you will be guided by Emma Campbell, Woldumar's volunteer Steward.
All tools, and equipment for removing these plants will be available to each participant. This includes clippers, herbicide bottles, protective plastic gloves, work aprons, saws and loppers. Participants should bring their own working gloves and protective eyewear if available. Long pants, long sleeves and water-resistant / proof shoes or boots are recommended.
Workdays will be every other Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00 in front of Woldumar's Visitor Center. Click here for the schedule. Please email Judy Gigante at judygigante@att.net if you are able to attend, so that she can let you know if the session has to be canceled due to weather.

Fall Cut Back and Cleanup in Downtown Lansing

Join Downtown Lansing Inc. for a day of beautifying and cleaning up the downtown district as they work to create a place for everyone to visit and enjoy in the cooler months. The Fall Cut-Back and Clean-Up event will take place Saturday, September 30 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Check in will be at the DLI office located at 112 S Washington Sq. All participants will be helping cut-back non-living plants, dispose of leaves, pick up trash in the cultural corridors of Downtown Lansing. A volunteer appreciation lunch will be provided at 12:00 noon. Sign up here so they can get an accurate count for lunch.
